July 26, 2017 WELLSPRING

It's Hot, Hot, Hot!

It is July, which can get pretty hot in Missouri and Kansas. The good news is that there are many ways to keep cool here at Heartland.  One of the best ways is swim time. In the afternoons, campers are often in the pools. There are also water games to help keep campers refreshed; these include Sponge Dodge, Water Balloon Battles, and use of the 100-foot Slip 'N Slide.

Counselors make sure that the campers are well-hydrated. There are admonitions to drink water before going somewhere and when getting somewhere, and also to drink liquids whenever feeling thirsty.

Campers can seek relief from the hot sun on facility porches, under the beautiful groves of trees or in our well shaded Hammock Villages.

Be assured that everyone is keeping a close eye on our campers and retreat guests to ensure that they are having a healthy and enjoyable time even when its very hot!

13th Annual Picnic

It's time again for our annual picnic here at Heartland on August 6!. You are invited to join us from 2:00PM to 7:00pm for a time of relaxation and fellowship with other camp supporters. Or you can participate in the many activities available including swimming, taking horseback rides, hiking on the trails or participating in archery or disc golf. With a reservation, you can also take advantage of the rock wall or zip line (must be at least 10 years old).

Dinner will be served at 6:00pm. Please RSVP for the meal at Office@HeartlandCenter.org or by phone (816-891-1078).
