Thank You For Another Great Adventure!

Thanks to everyone who made this summer another great adventure!

Each week, in Parkville, Olathe and at churches across Missouri and Kansas, camp families were created. No one was like another. One group made time to "dab" everywhere it went; another spent time battling water-throwing penguins; still another consisted of counselors lovingly serving developmentally disabled adults.

The uniqueness of each camp family is the result of programs built around what each group needs.  This is made possible through your involvement with us each summer. It requires parents and volunteers who give up time to selflessly serve this missionary project. It requires prayers and financial contributions, donations of funds, labor, and materials, and a belief in the ministry and mission of Heartland Presbyterian Center.

So, thank you for your continued support as we provide an outstanding camp and conference experience for hundreds of youth and adults each year.

Did you know? The Story of Chester

 "I am naming him 'Chester,'" Ken Rummer said. Ken, resident program assistant during the summer of 1973, had found the dog at the camp. The dog was emaciated and appeared to be in pain; rubber bands had been put on his muzzle so that he couldn't eat or bark. Ken took this mangy fellow to a veterinarian who provided care.  This was the beginning of Chester's presence at Heartland Center.

The compassion and care shown by Ken for an abandoned dog was no surprise. He is an example of the many workers and volunteers who have demonstrated kindness and caring to all who come to Heartland.  Through people like him, the love of God is demonstrated. Every one who passes through this place can benefit from being acknowledged as a child of God, loved and valued.

Chester, for a long while, was a resident here at Heartland. Perhaps you had occasion to be greeted by him. We are thankful that Chester survived to be an ambassador, and we give thanks for all of those many who have been ambassadors for Christ in this place.

A Scripture Reading

"You shall go out in joy and be led back in peace;

the mountains and the hills before you shall burst into song,

and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands."   Isaiah 55:12

Visitors are saying...

"HPC staff, besides being accessible, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, are super flexible and willing to answer questions and solve challenges at any time. A pleasure to work with."
"Food was plentiful and on time. People raved about the meals!!!"
"Such a peaceful and amazing place for a family reunion :)"
"You all are awesome! Thanks for making us feel at home."
